| What are you saying of yourself today? Something struck me this week as I read Luke 1 and 2. Upon her visit with Elizabeth, Mary made a proclamation of herself. That I had read before. However, what struck me was that Mary was speaking something that she had heard said of her. She was agreeing with what the angel proclaimed of her. This is what she said of herself- "My spirit rejoices in God my Savior... From now on all generations will call me blessed!" Earlier the angel making his visitation told Mary, "Hail, O favored one ! The Lord is with you! Blessed are you before all other women!" (See Luke 21:28 and Luke 1:47-48) Later (perhaps it was weeks) when Mary visited her cousin Elizabeth she proclaimed in agreement that she was most blessed among women. She heard the Spirit speak to her through the voice of the angel; she believed what He was saying, and she made it her truth. What are you saying of yourself? Are you in agreement with what the Lord is saying of you? Find a promise in God's Word. Claim it. Speak it. Even aloud to yourself in the mirror! Till you believe it. This is mine for today- "I am learning how to be content (satisfied to the point that I am not disturbed or disquieted) in whatever state I am." -Phil.4:11 What is yours? |
